For the play Middle Ages I upholstered a sofa, loveseat and chair.

Above is the sofa before I sewed the cushions.  Below are pictures of some of the process for upholstering the love seat.

When I purchased this love seat from the Goodwill it had a dust ruffle.  The designer did not want the dust ruffle, so I scabbed on a board all around to change the style of the bottom.
